Stellite 21 is a CoCrMo alloy known for its excellent wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and high-temperature performance. This alloy is part of the Stellite family, specifically developed for applications that must withstand extreme wear, heat, and corrosion. Stellite 21 is primarily composed of Cobalt (Co), with Chromium (Cr) and Molybdenum (Mo) as its main alloying elements, along with a small amount of Carbon (C).
Applications of Stellite 21
Stellite 21 is widely used in the oil and gas industry for valve seats and closures, as well as in turbines and engine components in the aerospace sector. It is also suitable for industrial knives, bearings, and sometimes medical implants. Additionally, this alloy is applied in metal finishing and components exposed to seawater.
ASTM F1058 – ISO5832-7
Standard specification for forged CoCr27Mo5Ni2.5 alloy wire, strip, and bar for surgical implant applications (UNS R30003 and UNS R30008).
This standard paves the way for using a versatile alloy highly valued in the medical sector. This Cobalt-based alloy provides not only excellent mechanical properties but also high corrosion resistance, making it ideal for applications such as heart valves and other implants.
