Inconel® 690 is a high chromium-nickel alloy that offers excellent moisture resistance to many corrosive elements in high-temperature atmospheres. The alloy with its high chromium content is resistant to aqueous corrosion by oxidative acids (particularly nitric acid) and salts at high temperatures. The applications of Inconel® alloy 690
Examples of applications are:
- Residual gas heaters that are used during the production of nitric acid and heating coils and tanks for nitric acid-hydrofluoric solutions, which are used for pickling metals such as stainless steel.
- Coal gasifiers, burners, and piping for the processing of sulfuric acid.
- Furnaces for petrochemical processing, incinerators, and gasifiers for the storage of radioactive waste.
