The GSA 08 3040 annealing treatment is a heat treatment applied to Titanium Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V) to optimize the material properties. This treatment reduces internal stresses that arise during machining or welding of the material. As a result, dimensional stability improves, durability increases, and the risk of cracking is reduced. This makes the treatment essential for applications where high precision and reliability are required.
The GSA 08 3040 annealing treatment is often required by ASML for Titanium Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V). It is widely used in the high-tech industry, especially by ASML suppliers. The GSA 08 3040 standard, part of the General Standard for ASML (GSA), is mandatory for precision components in the semiconductor industry. These components are used in lithography machines, vacuum systems, and other critical equipment, where extreme accuracy and stability are required.
In addition to annealing, STA (Solution Treated and Aged) can be applied to Titanium Grade 5 to achieve the highest mechanical properties. This makes the material stronger, but also harder to machine. To save costs and maintain tolerances, many customers choose to have this treatment performed directly at the factory. STA does not always have to be done according to the GSA standard, but this is possible (STA annealed according to GSA 08 3040).
At Metel, we supply Titanium alloys according to GSA 08 3040 (STA), fully certified and tailored to industrial applications.
