Hastelloy® C-276, also known as Inconel® C-276, is a nickel-molybdenum-chromium alloy with an addition of tungsten, designed for outstanding performance in extremely corrosive environments. The alloy offers high resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, thanks to its high molybdenum content, and maintains its structural integrity during welding due to a low carbon content, which minimizes the formation of carbide precipitation.
These properties make C-276 one of the most versatile corrosion-resistant alloys available.
Hastelloy® C-276 combines high corrosion resistance with excellent performance in oxidizing and reducing chemical environments. The alloy is particularly effective in media containing chlorides, acids, oxidizing salts, and sodium hydroxide. The addition of tungsten enhances overall durability and resistance to localized corrosion.
The low carbon content prevents the formation of harmful carbides during welding, allowing C-276 to maintain its corrosion resistance even in welded structures. The alloy is also easily weldable, formable, and resistant to thermal and mechanical stresses in aggressive conditions.
Hastelloy® C-276 is widely used in industries facing severe chemical stress. Typical applications include:
Pollution and emission control equipment
Chemical processing plants
Pulp and paper industry
Wastewater and waste treatment systems
Heat exchangers, reactor vessels, and pumps in aggressive media
Thanks to its resistance to pitting, stress corrosion, and chemically complex processes, Hastelloy® C-276 is a leading choice for long-term performance in demanding environments.
Hastelloy® C-276 / Inconel® C-276 is the alloy for maximum corrosion resistance and structural reliability under extreme chemical conditions.
