Inconel® Alloy 718 is a heat-treatable nickel-chromium alloy, strengthened with additions of iron, niobium, and molybdenum, and smaller amounts of aluminum and titanium. This alloy offers an outstanding combination of corrosion resistance, high strength, and weldability, even in demanding applications.
With its high creep rupture strength up to temperatures of 700°C, Inconel® 718 is one of the most reliable materials for extreme mechanical and thermal stress.
Inconel® 718 is engineered for prolonged performance at high temperatures and under severe mechanical stress. Through precipitation hardening via niobium and molybdenum, it forms a microstructure that provides high tensile strength, creep resistance, and fracture toughness.
The alloy is also highly resistant to oxidation and various types of corrosion, including stress corrosion and pitting. Thanks to its excellent weldability, Inconel® 718 is easier to process than many other superalloys, without compromising its mechanical properties.
These properties make the material ideally suited for use in extreme environments such as aerospace, aviation, and nuclear technology.
Inconel® Alloy 718 is widely used in sectors where strength, temperature, and corrosion resistance are of critical importance. Typical applications include:
Gas turbines and turbine components
Rocket engines and spacecraft
Nuclear reactor components
Pumps and high-pressure systems
High-temperature tools and dies
Fasteners and structural components in aerospace
Due to its exceptional performance in both cryogenic and high-temperature applications, Inconel® 718 is one of the most widely used superalloys in high-performance industries.
Inconel® Alloy 718 is the choice for demanding applications where strength, heat resistance, and ease of processing converge.
