Nilo® Alloy K is a nickel-iron-cobalt alloy with approximately 29% nickel. The alloy is designed with a thermal expansion coefficient that precisely matches that of borosilicate glass and alumina ceramics, and it gradually decreases with rising temperature up to the transition point.
Thanks to this unique property, Nilo® Alloy K is particularly suited for glass-to-metal applications that are exposed to temperature fluctuations and where reliability is essential.
Nilo® Alloy K is designed to provide perfect thermal compatibility with materials like borosilicate glass and alumina ceramics. The thermal expansion of the alloy closely matches that of these materials, allowing for stress-free seals during temperature fluctuations.
The addition of cobalt to the nickel-iron alloy enhances stability and reduces thermal shock, while also strengthening the magnetic properties. This makes Nilo® K highly suitable for electronic applications where precision, structural integrity, and reliability under thermal stress are required.
The alloy also offers excellent performance in terms of thermal shock resistance, ensuring long lifespan and reduced failure in critical applications.
Nilo® Alloy K is used in glass-to-metal seals that must withstand thermal shocks and require high reliability. Typical applications include:
High-power valves
Transistor leads and headers
Integrated circuit lead frames
Components for camera flash units
Electronic housings with glass seals
Due to its combination of thermal compatibility, shock resistance, and structural stability, Nilo® Alloy K is the ultimate solution for high-performance electronic and optoelectronic applications.
