Titanium Grade 4

Titanium Grade 4 / UNS R50700 / 3.7065

Titanium Grade 4 is the strongest of the four commercially pure titanium types. The material is more than twice as strong as Titanium Grade 1 and has a strength comparable to the stronger austenitic stainless steels. Despite its high strength, Titanium Grade 4 remains easily weldable and is exceptionally resistant to corrosion, even in pure chloride solutions up to 70 degrees Celsius.

Thanks to this combination of properties, it is a popular choice in sectors where durability and resistance to extreme conditions are required.

Properties of Titanium Grade 4

Titanium Grade 4 offers excellent corrosion resistance, making it ideal for applications in aggressive chemical and marine environments. The material withstands acids, chloride compounds, and prolonged exposure to seawater, making it a reliable choice for harsh industrial conditions.

With strength more than twice that of Titanium Grade 1, Titanium Grade 4 is the strongest of the commercially pure titanium grades. This makes it particularly suitable for applications requiring both strength and corrosion resistance. Despite its high tensile strength, the material remains weldable and relatively easy to machine, making it versatile across various industries.

The combination of high strength, corrosion resistance, and good workability makes Titanium Grade 4 an excellent choice for demanding applications where reliability and durability are essential.

Applications of Titanium Grade 4

Titanium Grade 4 is widely used in the automotive industry, where it contributes to lighter and stronger vehicles. In the chemical industry, it is utilized for chlorine production and other applications requiring extreme corrosion resistance.

In maritime and offshore applications, Titanium Grade 4 is used for saltwater-resistant components, while the aerospace industry benefits from its high strength and low weight. Additionally, the material is applied in pumps and other industrial equipment that must withstand extreme conditions.

Titanium Grade 4 is the ideal choice for applications where a combination of high tensile strength, corrosion resistance, and excellent workability is crucial.
