Incoloy® Alloy DS

Incoloy® Alloy DS / 1.4862

Incoloy® Alloy DS is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy with a significant addition of silicon, specifically developed for use in high-temperature applications. The alloy offers excellent oxidation and carburization resistance, while simultaneously maintaining strength and structural stability during prolonged exposure to high temperatures.

The silicon content makes this alloy particularly suitable for environments where internal oxidation poses a threat.

Properties of Incoloy® Alloy DS

Incoloy® Alloy DS excels in its mechanical strength at high temperatures and its resistance to both surface and internal oxidation. The presence of silicon contributes to the formation of a protective oxide film, which shields the material from oxidation and carburization—a form of surface contamination that occurs in carbon-rich atmospheres at high temperatures.

The alloy maintains its integrity and geometry in demanding applications such as cyclic use in furnaces and heat treatment systems. Additionally, it has good formability and is suitable for welding, bending, and pressing.

This combination of properties makes Incoloy® DS particularly suitable for structural components that are subjected to prolonged thermal stress.

Applications of Incoloy® Alloy DS

Incoloy® Alloy DS is primarily used in environments where high temperatures and aggressive atmospheres converge. Typical applications include:

  • Industrial furnaces and furnace constructions

  • Heat treatment baskets, trays, and fixtures

  • Thermally highly stressed carriers and structures

  • Components in metal processing installations

Thanks to its high degree of oxidation, heat, and carburization resistance, Incoloy® DS is an extremely reliable alloy in thermal processes where long-term durability is required.

Incoloy® Alloy DS is the choice for structural applications under extreme heat and chemical stress.
