Nimonic® 80A is a nickel-chromium-based superalloy that is strengthened through precipitation hardening with the addition of aluminum and titanium. This alloy is similar to Nimonic® 75 but offers enhanced mechanical properties due to the aging treatment.
Nimonic® 80A is renowned for its high tensile strength, excellent creep rupture resistance, and good oxidation and corrosion resistance at temperatures up to approximately 815°C.
The addition of aluminum and titanium to the nickel-chromium base significantly strengthens Nimonic® 80A through precipitation hardening. This results in increased tensile strength and creep resistance during prolonged exposure to high temperatures.
The alloy offers excellent resistance to oxidation and corrosive gases, making it highly suitable for thermally demanding environments. Its structural stability and mechanical properties are maintained at temperatures up to 815°C, leading to its widespread use in turbine and engine components.
Nimonic® 80A is highly weldable, machinable, and resistant to metal fatigue, significantly enhancing processing capabilities in complex constructions.
Nimonic® 80A is widely used in the aerospace and energy industries, particularly in gas turbine components such as blades, rings, and discs. Additionally, the alloy is used for:
Bolts and fasteners for high-temperature applications
Tubes in nuclear steam generators
Injection molding inserts
Exhaust valves in combustion engines
Thanks to its reliability in high-pressure and high-temperature environments, Nimonic® 80A is a popular choice in both civil and industrial applications.
Nimonic® 80A is the ideal solution for applications requiring high-temperature resistance, structural integrity, and oxidation resistance.
