Tungsten Rhenium W-5Re

Tungsten Rhenium W-5Re contains 5 weight percent rhenium and represents the next step in the W-Re series after W-3Re. The higher rhenium content further improves toughness and creep resistance, making this alloy suitable for structural applications.

W-5Re is also widely used as one of the two alloys in thermocouple pairs, combined with a higher alloyed W-Re variant.

Properties of Wolfram Rhenium W-5Re

After sintering, W-5Re exhibits a hardness that can further increase through cold working, while an annealing treatment reduces the hardness and restores ductility.

The Alloy retains a high melting point and good thermal stability, with electrical conductivity suitable for precision electronics and measuring instruments.

Applications of Wolfram Rhenium W-5Re

W-5Re is widely used in thermocouple wire for high-temperature measurements, often combined with W-26Re. In the semiconductor industry, the material is used for heating elements and electrical contacts.

W-5Re is also applied in aerospace where strength and temperature resistance come together.
