Molybdenum Type 361

Molybdenum Type 361 / UNS R03610

Molybdenum Type 361 is unalloyed Molybdenum produced by powder metallurgy. In this process, Molybdenum powder is pressed and sintered into a dense bar, instead of being melted as with Type 360. This results in a fine-grained structure with good ductility in the annealed condition.

Type 361 is considered a versatile alternative to Type 360 when good machinability is desired.

Properties of Molybdenum Type 361

With a purity of more than 99.95 percent Molybdenum, Type 361 offers the same core characteristics as other pure grades: a high melting point, good thermal conductivity, and a low coefficient of expansion.

In annealed condition, Type 361 is easy to saw, mill, and weld, provided the correct process parameters are used.

Applications of Molybdenum Type 361

Type 361 is widely used in vacuum furnaces, semiconductor processing equipment, and sputter targets, where good machinability is an advantage for more complex parts.

This material is also a common choice for heat shields and high-temperature tools.
