Molybdenum Type 362

Molybdenum Type 362 / UNS R03620

Molybdenum Type 362 is an alloy of Molybdenum with Rhenium. The addition of Rhenium is one of the most effective ways to address the limited ductility and brittleness of pure Molybdenum at room temperature.

The addition of Rhenium significantly lowers the ductile-to-brittle transition temperature, while also increasing the recrystallization temperature.

Properties of Molybdenum Type 362

This Molybdenum-Rhenium Alloy combines the high melting temperature and stiffness of Molybdenum with a noticeably improved toughness and tensile strength compared to pure Molybdenum.

The Alloy maintains good resistance to radiation damage, making it suitable for nuclear applications.

Applications of Molybdenum Type 362

Type 362 is used in aerospace and nuclear reactor components where high temperature resistance is combined with reliable mechanical performance under cyclic loading.

Additionally, the Alloy is used in electron tubes and X-ray tube anodes, where thermal stability is decisive.
