Molybdenum Type 364 is a powder metallurgy produced TZM variant with the same base composition of Titanium and Zirconium as Type 363, but with an adjusted carbon balance. This carbon ratio influences carbide formation and thus the mechanical properties.
Because Type 364 is produced via powder metallurgy, it has a slightly different grain structure than Type 363.
Type 364 combines the high strength and recrystallization resistance of the TZM family with a microstructure tailored via the powder metallurgy route.
Like other TZM variants, Type 364 retains its mechanical properties well at elevated temperatures.
Type 364, like Type 363, is used in hot working tools and injection molds where high strength at elevated temperature is required.
Type 364 is also used in the semiconductor industry for structural components that must withstand prolonged thermal stress.
